Elements and Principles of Art

This afternoon Miss Perry taught us about the elements and principles of art. Things like line, shape, form, value, space, colour and texture. We talked about the types of visual art - drawing, painting, sculpture and photography.

After looking at some amazing examples of each in Wearable Art, we had the chance to experiment in our classroom. We played with paint, play do, tinfoil and even cameras.

It was such exciting learning that we are now bursting to apply this to our cool Wearable Art ideas.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to the start of our third term together. It was exciting to be greeted by so many smiling faces this morning - how lucky are we?!

We had fun this morning looking through today's edition of The Press - it's amazing that most of our students had not read an actual newspaper before! We will learn heaps about newspapers, writing news stories, and even creating our own this term.

We tried to find out what our students know about fractions, decimals and percentages so that we are teaching them maths they didn't already know.

We also began our exciting new Inquiry learning all about avant-garde wearable arts in the desert!!! Wearable Arts - The Journey of the Lost Temple.

Banqer Auction

Today there was great excitement in class as we prepared for our pod Banqer auction. Students were able to use the money they have saved in their virtual bank accounts to buy items brought in by everyone. We had books, cars, robots, art, even musical instruments.

We learned about reserve amounts, bidding increments, and how to place a bid on a silent auction. What incredible learning.

Thanks to all our families for their continued support!

Life Ed

This morning we had our second visit to the Life Education van with our educator and Harold. One of the many things we talked about was empathy, how understanding how other people are feeling is really tricky but also necessary for us to build positive relationships.

  1. Watch and listen
  2. Remember
  3. Imagine
  4. Ask
  5. Show your care

We know that we all need to keep working on our abilities to respond in the right way to help others.
