Later in the day Explorers One came down to Room 16 and 17 and we showed them all the work we had been doing over the week.
We all really enjoyed sharing our learning with the younger students and hope to do more of it in the future.

On Thursday last week Navigators Two visited Explorers One in the old library. There, the wonderful Yr 0-1 students shared their Wearable Arts creations with us.

Day 3 Update...
Today there has definitely been significant progress being made. Ashton's mum was helping to organise the lizard's body and Jack's mum was helping to sew our sphynx!

Day 2...
Today was day 2 of our Wearable Arts making week. Every team has a timeline and are doing superbly on making clear progress. Some designs have been adapted, others have been keeping strictly to plan.

Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardy
This morning our Year 6s read a poem by Thomas Hardy about a Darkling Thrush. It had lots of really complex vocabulary that we had to work out meanings for. This sort of thing is what Ms Saxon worked on at University - aren't we amazing?!
Hugo
The coppice wall brings nought but fall
For riches be withheld
Spectral glows and icy floes
Drain winter's last few dregs.
In darkling woods a village grows,
Ensnared by coppice wall,
Though hope is lost,
Through darkling frost,
The coppice wall grows still.
Arthur
Cobblestone roads will lead to thus
Coppice lined walls of stone
Birds land on impenetrable canopies
And begin to leak their souls.
Cobblestone roads will lead to thus
Chain armour basked in liberty
Emerging from woodland serene
To the fervourful chant of birds.
Cobblestone roads will lead to thus
Turrets of provoking weapons
Are devoured by ecstatic spirits
Of the engulfing voice of birds.

Serene trees fill the sky
Forlornness enters the air
With spectre frost and snow
Droplets crawl down my spine.

The tower of love...
Today the Year 5 students learnt about the history and construction of Paris' Eiffel Tower.
They were challenged to build their own scale model of the Tower using match sticks and play dough. (It turned out to be more challenging than expected.) The teams had fun problem solving, working together and of course... pulling down their creations.
