Ben Taught Us!

This morning Ben taught us the word vanquished! It means to defeat or kill. So many of our year 6s used it in their poems this morning. Thank you Mr Coughlan!

Connor
Beyond this land
Animals lie
Merciless to all
Tenacious creatures lurk
Beneath the trees.

The sun illuminates
The crystal lake
Claiming it
His own.

Playful kids
Come out to play
Scattering out with their coppice sleigh.

Ella
The dormant forest rests for the night,
As the sun sets down on the snowy horizon
Wind whistles across the forest floor
And off to its silent lair.

The sun vanquished
And snow no longer caressing the ground.
Grotesque creatures come out to play,
Lurking into the forest.

They tumble and howl all through the night
But when their time comes
They trudge off
Leaving the trees desolate.

Leon
As the downy flakes
Eddy against winter's breeze,
The dormant clock ticks no more.

The frosty dregs
Rest upon the ground
Capturing the forlorn flakes.

Cold shards of light
Vanquish the heat
Making winter dominant
Creatures flee
Leaving the forest serene.

Lochie
As winter comes
The sun fades, dormant
Snow blankets the forest.

Bears start their hibernation
Birds fall but the white wolves
Are predators to all prey.

The white wolves feed for their cubs
To give them strength
Silently lurking
The forest wolf can hear nothing
But his heavy breath.

The days are dark,
The nights are cold
But the wolves now sleep.
