Friendship Ambassadors

This morning we had our first session with Lauren, our social worker. Firstly we defined five things that we thought friends were:

  1. Not be bossy
  2. Include others
  3. Help when friends are in need
  4. Be forgiving
  5. Don't create drama
We talked about giving conflict resolution a go before getting an adult involved.

We also learned that good friends are:
  • Forgiving - when something goes wrong we work together to fix it.
  • Kind and thoughtful - we always try to see the good in people.
  • Empathetic - what may be going on for our friend that is causing them to act differently?
  • Brave - they aren't afraid to stick up for what is right and good.
How can I make good friends?
  • Be kind! Being kind to yourself and others is the best way to make friends.
  • People enjoy being friends with nice people, who are positive and friendly.
  • People struggle to be friends with people who judge others, are negative, or create drama.
  • If your current friends are causing you stress, try to solve it, or make new friends!

We have often been told to use our WITs - Walk away, Ignore, Tell a teacher - however, does this teach us to fix our own problems? We will look further into this.
